Artist Background
Wang Fu was born 1960 in Shijazhong, China and now lives and works in Berlin.
He was trained in the traditional forms and subject matter of his cultural surroundings and was thereby confronted with fixed functions of imagery.
Increasingly developing his own art form he entered into debate with artistic restrictions and limitations of personal development. In his attempt to break with traditional ideological barriers, he embarked upon a path of individualism, free of cultural restraints.
After his postgraduate studies in Stuttgart, his pictorial world began to thrive from the tension between his past traditional artistry and the cultural significance of the present.
The two world of images and cultural meaning of the past and present suddenly presented new and significant values and questions which culminate in the unique works of the much acclaimed artist Wang Fu.
He boasts many international exhibitions including the Tate and HF Contemporary Art are delighted to welcome Wang Fu in our gallery.
