Christoph Schmidberger

Artist Background

Born in Hieflau, Austria, Christoph is one of the most talented and successful international artists of the day. Helga Fox is pleased to have been his manager from January 2003 to 2006 and has in her private collection a selection of his early graphite works such as ‘Sunny Afternoon – Moritz’ 2001, as well as various more recent pieces of his magnificent paintings in oil and acrylic on mdf.

His arresting portraits of beautiful poster boys and girls are utterly compelling. Most often compared to David Hockney, Christoph creates lovely, glossy images juxtaposed with the grittier side of reality. They represent a perfect mix of the rough with the smooth, reminiscent of the ambiguity in certain scenes in the films of David Lynch.
